We are coming to WDW in Oct and my father-in-law will be using an ECV because he had a below-the-knee amputation and may not have a prosthetic by then. Are there any rides we need to be aware of that might be more difficult for him to transfer onto?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Rae!

There is something magical about visiting the Walt Disney World Resort with family. Many Guests find that touring the resorts in an Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) allows them the freedom to explore on their own or to keep up with their family. My mom has mobility issues, and she finds that using an ECV is the best way for her to tour the resort without getting too tired.

Since most of the attraction queues are ECV friendly, your father-in-law should be able to navigate through right along with your family. Keep in mind that there are some attractions where he will need to be ambulatory or transfer to an attraction wheelchair before entering a ride vehicle. There are other attractions that will allow him to remain in the ECV to experience the attraction. We have found that Cast Members at the attraction entrances are willing to provide direction and assistance so that family members can stay together if possible. The Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities page gives a detailed description of attraction access categories to help you prepare for your visit. This page is one of our "go-to" pages when planning our family's theme park days.

If you find that your father-in-law needs additional accommodations, you can always speak to a Cast Member at any theme park Guest Relations Lobby, who will be able to offer assistance based on his specific needs. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

I hope you make many magical memories with your family this October!
