We're coming to WDW May 2014 (with DDP), and was wondering 1st, how many Quick Service locations have gluten free options? 2nd, reserved BOG at last avlb time 4:55pm, but do later resv's times open up from canc's? 3rd, will Magic Bands be the norm by May?

    Hi Alyssa,

I think May is a great time of year to visit Walt Disney World. You should be smack-dab in between the heavy crowds from Spring Break and summer vacations. Plus, I've always found Orlando's weather in May to be pretty awesome.

You asked some very good questions, so let me try to answer them in order:

    1) I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the number of gluten-free options you'll find around the theme parks and resort hotels. My advice would be to send an e-mail to the culinary team at: special.diets@disneyworld.com and they can send you the most up-to-date list of restaurants and menu items that can accommodate your family's gluten sensitivities. (The information they send out is very comprehensive!)

    2) Great job in snagging a dinner reservation at Be Our Guest Restaurant! (That's still really hard to do!) I certainly would keep checking back periodically to see if any cancellations occur. Believe it or not, I've had my best luck a day or so before the time in which I'd like to get a reservation or modify an existing one.

    3) The Magic Band train is barreling down the tracks at a very high rate of speed. Unfortunately, they're still in the "testing" phase, so I'm not sure what direction that train is going to take over the next few months. When I was in Walt Disney World last week, I talked with a bunch of cast members who are in the My Disney Experience group and they didn't offer up any juicy details about what we can expect over the next few months as they wrap up the testing efforts. Stay tuned though!

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
