We are coming to WDW June 1-9, 2014. My son will turn 21 in January 2014 and my B-day is June 6 and I will be turning 50. Is there anything I can do to plan something special?

Hi Sheryl! Although your big celebration is just under a year away it will be exciting to plan to make this the best vacation ever!

There are many ways to celebrate birthdays at Walt Disney World. One of my favorite things to do is to book a fireworks cruise for an evening. This can be done through one of the Magic Kingdom resorts on Bay Lake or Seven Seas Lagoon and it will allow you an up close viewing of the Magic Kingdom Wishes show. You can add balloons to the boat (which can hold up to ten if you want to invite others) or order something special from private dining such as a Mickey cake or strawberries and champagne. Sodas and water and bagged snacks are part of the cost of the cruise.  If your budget allows you might also consider a bigger cruise on the Grand One which is Disney's own yacht. That comes with a pilot and butler who will be glad to serve you snacks or a full fledged meal on board! The other option is a pontoon rental at the Yacht Club marina for the Epcot Illuminations show which is one of my favorites.

No matter what you do consider taking the family if they are all over 21 to Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk. Here you can spend your late evening enjoying the dueling pianos playing your favorite requests.

If you are looking for a special dining celebration I suggest Victoria and Alberts. It is a quiet and beautiful restaurant tucked away in the Grand Floridian resort. Jackets are required for the men but they have some extra if you need to borrow for the evening. Children under 12 are not allowed making this an adult type get away at Disney. Service and food is five star quality! Other choices would include Citricos at the Grand Floridian, Bistro de Paris at Epcot's France Pavilion, or the California Grill. Make sure you tell them you want a cake too!

Check out the in room surprises and other celebration items you can get through the Disney florist to make your birthday complete!
