I am coming to WDW June 28 to July 3, 2013 with my four grandchildren ages 8 to 14, my daughter and husband. We are staying at Beach Club. What is the best way to start the vacation, we are arriving at 11 a.m. Also, need to know best shoes for walking

Hi Anna! There is nothing better then visiting Disney with your grandchildren. Those visits have now become my favorite ones after coming for a few years without children once our own kids had grown and become busy. What a great vacation you are going to have!

First let me suggest that you not worry about fashion when it comes to shoes and wear the best supporting ones you can find. I have good luck with sneakers or some of the Privo brand styles. I stay away from flip flops or anything that doesn't give support. Your feet will be hot so anything that rubs will cause blisters quickly.

The Beach Club is one of my favorite locations and resorts. I love being so close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios and of course I love the great Stormalong Bay pool.

Many families want to rush to the parks the first day and sometimes it works out to do that but I suggest you make that first day a relaxing one. Head to bed early and get up early and then start the fast pace for the next few days. Traveling is exhausting and stressful so no sense in adding to that the first day.

If park tickets are not an issue for you and the grandkids then you can check into your rooms and walk to Epcot where you can get a feel of the park. There are so many great dining spots in the World Showcase I suggest you get a mid afternoon reservation. T hen head back to the resort and enjoy some pool time. If you have energy and want to walk back to the entrance to watch Illuminations you can do this but it is more important you just get the kids to bed early so they are rested. You will certainly hear the show from your room at least that first night which is exciting in itself. If you find extra time walk over to the Boardwalk area to watch some of the street entertainment. Make it a no rush first day and enjoy some of the magic that so many pass by as they rush to parks!
