We are coming to WDW for the first time in mid October with our 6 yr old. Would you recommend the Boardwalk or the Beach Club to stay? Any suggestions on standard room locations? And are the pools heated at the resorts?

Hi MIchael!  Although both Boardwalk and Beach Club are wonderful resorts that I have stayed in I would definitely recommend the Beach Club.  The Stormalong Bay pool complex is one that stretches between the Beach Club and Yacht Club resorts and many find it the best on Disney property.  It is a series of heated sand bottomed areas including a wonderful large pirate slide.  My family loves relaxing and resting  by the pools.

The Beach Club also has a wonderful character dining experience right in the hotel at Cape May Cafe.  It is a breakfast buffet where you might find Goofy, Minnie and a few more characters who love to come by and sign your autograph books and have pictures taken with you.  Check out the resort site at www.disneyworld.com to see a list of many other amenities and this will also give you a chance to compare the two resorts to see which is a better fit for you.

When reserving a room you will have the benefit to ask for a water view versus a garden view.  I enjoy the water views but it will be more expensive and for the amount of time you are in the room it sometimes isn't worth the extra money.  You might consider requesting a room close to the elevators as it can be a long walk but again I have never stayed in a Beach Club room that I didn't like!

You will love the location of these two resorts as EPCOT is just a few steps away and the Hollywood Studios are an easy mile walk or relaxing water taxi ride.  Plus you get the benefits of the exciting Boardwalk entertainment area in the evenings.  Have a wonderful vacation!
