I will be coming to WDW in August with a 4 week old. I was wondering if you could give me advice on keeping the newborn cool in terms of what types of accessories I should bring and what I should expect at the parks. Thanks

    Hi, Karen!

Congratulations!  What magical memories you're about to create with the newest member of your family!
(And, by the way, this is a great question!)

I recommend that you bring your own stroller, especially if you have one with the infant seat in it which has its own shade; keeping the baby out of direct sun will keep him or her cooler.  There are also clip-on fans which you can position so that the air flows gently onto the baby at all times.  This will help as well.

You may not be aware, too, that each of the Walt Disney World parks has an Infant Care Center, usually located near the park entrance; quite often, these are near the First Aid Stations as well. I found that getting the baby into air-conditioning from to time (in order to change a diaper, nurse, heat up a bottle, etc.) not only cooled him down, but made Mommy more pleasant as well.  Keep in mind that most of the stores are heavily air-conditioned, as are the indoor rides, buses and restaurants.  The only time you'll have to worry about overheating is when you are traveling from one attraction to another.

We often travel to Walt Disney World in August, so I know that it's possible to plan your trip around air-conditioned venues throughout the day, which will keep everybody happy!

Enjoy traveling Walt Disney World with your new bundle of joy!
