We are coming to Walt Disney World in early February. friends keep recommending resorts on the monorail for ease of use, but they never mention any other pros for staying at the higher end resorts? For the extra money, I'd like to know what I'm getting :)

    Hi Meghan,

While I love all of the resort hotels at Walt Disney World, I have to agree with your friends. The resort hotels on the Monorail line (Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Polynesian Resort, and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa) are awesome places to stay!

That being said, I'll be happy to share some benefits of staying at any of the Deluxe Resort Hotels (other than convenience):

Benefit #1 - Theming and Design

The Value and Moderate Resorts are all beautiful properties, but Deluxe Resort Hotels have been kicked up a notch in terms of theming and design. For example, the lobby of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is breathtaking!

Benefit #2 - Room Size and Layout

The rooms in the Deluxe Resort Hotels are slightly larger than those in the Value and Moderate category. Plus, most rooms in the Deluxe category have two queen size beds, while most rooms in the Value category have two double beds.

    Benefit #3 - Amenities

The upgraded amenities include: options for premium views (e.g. views of the Magic Kingdom), concierge services, awesome pools with water slides, watercraft rentals, bike rentals, and other goodies as well.

All of those are fine and good, but here's my #1 reason why I love the Deluxe Resort Hotels:

    FOOD!

The Deluxe Resort Hotels are home to some of the best restaurants in all of Walt Disney World. Don't get me wrong, there are great dining options in the theme parks and other resort hotels. Pound-for-pound (interesting choice of phrases, especially since I'm talking about decadent food), the Deluxe Resort Hotels are where it's at when it comes to dining at Walt Disney World.

I hope that helps! If you'd like to chat more about a specific hotel you have in mind, please feel free to write back and I'll be more than happy to give you the scoop!

    Best regards,
    Derek
