we are coming to visit wdw in may and thinking about staying at the cabins but will be with 3 & 7 year old and would like to know how long of a walk is it from the bus stop to the cabins, you know how littles ones dont like to walk after a day at wdw,

The cabins at Fort Wilderness are a great option for families who like to have a little extra space on vacation.  They also feature full kitchens which opens up a lot of options for meals.  That said, Fort Wilderness is a sprawling place, and the cabins are spread throughout the grounds.  The distance to the bus stop from your cabin will vary, based upon your cabin assignment.  Cabins closest to the "loop entrance" will be closer to the bus stop.  Even the cabins set furthest back in the loops, though, are still within comfortable walking distance to the bus stops.  In fact, the distance from the bus stop to the front door of the cabin is often times much less than the distance from a deluxe resort room (down the hall, through the lobby, etc) to the bus stop.  Walking distance between the cabin and the marina, pool, and other spots of interest is another story.  You'll either want to rent a golf cart (which is great fun, by the way) or rely on internal bus transportation to get around the Fort.  Hope that helps!

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
