Andrea Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Coming from the UK can we use online check-in? We’ve always gone to the desk because we have to pick up the magic bands we can’t have posted so we check in at the same time. Can we check in online and use old bands and pick up the new bands the next day?

Hello Andrea it's wonderful to hEar from you once again!
I have to say that I'm all about making things as easily accessible as possible during my families holidays to Walt Disney World Resort and I'm glad to say yes indeed Guests like you and I from the United Kingdom may utilise the great convenience of Online Check-in via My Disney Experience where Guests are able to place any room location requests, add credit card details and so on prior to arrival at their Disney Resort Hotel.  However even Guests who've already checked-in online should visit Front Desk Services at the designated Online Check-in Service Desk upon arrival at their Disney Resort where a welcome pack and any preordered MagicBands will be awaiting collection.
Plus I also thought you may find these Disney Resort Hotels - Frequently Asked Questions and this handy Express Check-out link to be useful planning resources for your upcoming jolly holiday to the magic of Walt Disney World Resort.
    Have a great Disney day.
