Hi Valerie! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm so happy you've stopped by with your planning question, and I'm happy to help.
Congratulations to your cheerleader and the squad for making it to the D2 summit. Very exciting! Since your package is being offered by your gym, and is likely a special package offered by Disney to sports groups, you are probably not able to alter it. You could contact the person at your gym in charge of the bookings to make absolutely sure, but you also have the option to make a new reservation for just that first night on your own. My suggestion would be to visit or call
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel reservations and add a room-only reservation for your arrival night. Be sure to note on the online reservation or let the Cast Member on the phone know that you will be starting your package the next night, and provide the reservation number so that they can connect the two stays in the system. That way you shouldn't have to change rooms when your package begins.
I love arriving at Walt Disney World "early." I always try to fly or drive in a day before my theme park fun starts in order to take advantage of my resort amenities. I like to unpack, unwind, and relax at the pool. It's a great way to get my mind in vacation mode! My family also likes to make an
Advanced Dining Reservation at a resort restaurant to kick off our Disney fun. Some of our favorite places to start our trip with a festive, family meal are:
'Ohana at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort,
Boma - Flavors of Africa at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at
Disney's Beach Club Resort.
In between competitions, there will be so much for you to enjoy in the theme parks. You will be visiting right in the middle of the
2020 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. Stop in and see what's blooming! Also, if you have time, be sure to hop over to Disney's Hollywood Studios for a ride aboard
Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, a zany, cartoon world adventure debuting in March.
Wishing you a magical stay, Valerie. Best of luck to your squad at the D2 Summit!
