Hi! We are coming to stay the Art of Animation for 2 nights later in January. We have a Lightening McQueen fan! What restaurants are available to us? And what other things can we access/do if we are not purchasing park passes this year? Racing academy?

    Hello Katie,

Ka-Chow!  And welcome to planDisney, I'm so pumped to see you here today!

How fun it is to hEAR that you've got an upcoming January 2022 stay at Disney's Art of Animation Resort waiting for you right around the race-bend.  I can bet that you're getting super excited as you wait for the chequered flag to finally wave as the end of this month comes ever closer!

Katie, I'm happy to share that although Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy is located within Disney's Hollywood Studios (and therefore would require a valid Disney Theme Park Ticket linked to your My Disney Experience account, plus a Disney Park Pass reservation to gain access), I do have some fun Cars-related suggestions for the Lightning McQueen fan in your family.

As you are staying in the larger-than-life Disney's Art of Animation Resort, you'll be able to enjoy the huge family-friendly 74, 740-gallon Cone Pool which is surrounded by the stars of the Disney-Pixar movie Cars - Lightning McQueen, Doc, Sally, Tow Mater, and more.  These massive movie icons really do make for some great photo opportunities too!

Although this suggestion isn't quite Cars-related, it is motorised!  How about hopping on board one of the vintage amphicars at The BOATHOUSE - Great Food, Waterfront Dining, Dream Boats at Disney Springs.  Up to 3 Guests per Dream Boat are welcome to make arrangements to take a guided 20-minute tour between the hours of 10 am and 10 pm (weather permitting) by stopping by the BOATHOUSE.

Just thinking about Dining at Walt Disney World Resort makes me feel all rumbly in my tumbly!  Katie, as a Guest at Walt Disney World Resort, you'll be able to dine in any restaurant that you so wish.  However, if you are not planning to purchase Disney Theme Park Tickets, then of course it goes without saying that you'll be unable to enter a Disney Theme Park to dine within a restaurant located there.

Katie, I thought that you may find this list of Disney restaurants to be a useful planning resource for your upcoming trip to the most magical place on earth.  It's easy to utilise the drop-down filter on the left-hand side of the webpage to discover restaurants not located within Disney Theme Parks.

All that now remains is for me to wish you and your family an extra magical time staying at Disney's Art of Animation Resort!

Have a great Disney day ~ Jane
