Hi Cheryl ~
Celebrating your son's 4th birthday at Disney is a terrific idea! Be sure to pick up a "Happy Birthday" button for him at any theme park Guest Relations location. They are great free souvenEARs and will alert characters and Cast Members he is celebrating his birthday. You never know what pixie dust will come his way.
We love wearing Ear Hats and you can find special birthday "Happy Birthday Ear Hats" at many locations. In the Magic Kingdom, look for them at The Chapeau which is in Town Square near Tony's Town Square Restaurant.
Many table service locations will celebrate a Guest's birthday by bringing out a cupcake. A lot of the table service restaurants have a 6-inch celebration cake ready to go. They come in chocolate and vanilla. They aren't super fancy but it will be a cake. You can request a 6-inch celebration cake when you arrive to check in and no notice is required.
If you want a cake created for your son, call the specialty cake hotline at 407-827-2253. Advanced Dining Reservations and 72 hours notice are required.
Here are some other ideas to make his birthday special:

The Pirates League *
Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage *
Jedi Training Academy *
A Pirate's Adventures: Treasures of the Seven Seas At Downtown Disney, check out the LEGO Imagination Center and T-Rex.
