Hello! Coming 2/2/13 to 2/7/13. Our son will be turning 1 while we're there and Im just wondering what can we do to make his 1st b-day special? Booked RFC in AK for the big day! This will also be our first time at Disney too! 30 days and counting!!

    Hi there Liz,

What a wonderful way to celebrate your little one's first birthday!  Walt Disney World is the place to be when it comes to celebrating, so I am happy to say you have made a great choice!

The first thing you'll want to do is pick up a complimentary "Birthday Button" from any Cast Member!  This will let everyone know that your son is a guest of honor!  This will earn him many wishes and even a few birthday surprises at the Disney restaurants!  You may want to also purchase an autograph book for the characters to sign with special birthday wishes when you meet with them in the parks!  This can be a nice souvenir he will treasure forever!  Stop by Le Chapeau on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom where you can find a special pair of "It's my Birthday" Mickey Ears that can be embroidered with the little birthday boy's name!

Some guests have made a tradition of having their children's first haircuts at the famous Harmony Barber Shop in the Magic Kingdom!  The birthday boy will receive a special keepsake Mickey Hat and memories to last a lifetime!

I also recommend booking a character dining experience which will give your son the opportunity to visit with his favorite characters while Mom and Dad enjoy a nice meal!

Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation! -Amanda F.
