Hi Michael!
For many Walt Disney World guests, the
Monorail is more than just a mode of transportation - it’s part of the Disney experience. The views from the train and the anticipation as you approach your destination are part of the magic! For me, my Disney vacation hasn’t begun until I hear those magical words, “Please stand clear of the doors. Por favor manténgase alejado de las puertas.”
Disney has high safety standards for the Monorail system, with regular maintenance and inspections to ensure a safe and smooth ride. While this means the Monorail might occasionally be down for maintenance, Disney works hard to minimize any temporary closures or reduced service.
As of now, there hasn’t been any official announcement from Walt Disney World Resort regarding a closure of the "loop" monorail (which includes
Disney's Contemporary Resort,
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort,
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and
Magic Kingdom Park) in September 2024. I’d recommend keeping an eye on Disney’s official channels (such as the
Disney Parks Blog or Walt Disney World on
Instagram or
X) as your travel dates approach. They typically provide updates on any significant changes or
refurbishments that might impact your plans.
If, for some reason, the monorail is down during your stay, Disney always offers alternate transportation options, like buses and boats, to ensure you can still enjoy all the magic without any hiccups. But for now, I wouldn’t worry too much unless something official is announced!
Thanks for visiting planDisney – please let us know if you have more questions before your vacation!
