We are coming on September 27th with a party of 7 for my son's 10th birthday. We already have our tickets but was wondering what, if anything, there is special to celebrate him that day. Any cheap/free "secret" experiences we can plan for?

Hello, Heather! Welcome to planDisney. I'm so excited to hear that you are bringing your son to Disneyland Resort for a 10th birthday celebration! There's no better place to celebrate in my opinion.

First things first, you said you have your tickets, which is the first step. You also will need to make sure that you have theme park ticket reservations for each ticket in order to enter the parks. Then it sounds like it's time to start planning the details!

The most important part of celebrating a birthday at Disneyland Resort is getting your complimentary Birthday Button! If you are starting in Disneyland Park, you will find these at City Hall. Over in Disney California Adventure Park, you can get your button at the Chamber of Commerce. Also, a lot of times Cast Members will have them at check-out locations in retail stores. This button will be worn proudly and will help other Guests and Cast Members be able to celebrate with your son by sharing their birthday wishes with him.

In Disneyland Park, don't miss out on hopping on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Mad Tea Party since both have birthday themes!

Last, but not least, a budget-friendly treat is a great way to end the day. Stop in Candy Palace, Trolley Treats, or Marceline's Confectionery, and have the birthday boy pick out a yummy Mickey-shaped treat!

Heather, I hope this helps you get a start on the birthday planning. Be sure to stop by again if you have any other questions! See you real soon!

Well hello there, friend! I'm Carrie, a work-from-home mom and military wife who currently calls sunny San Diego home. You'll find my family in the parks braving drops and coasters to work up our appetite to take as many snack breaks as we can. While Disneyland is our home away from home, we love trying to make a Walt Disney World Resort vacation happen at least once a year now too. All my friends know I'm the go-to for Disney advice, so I'm here to help you plan and experience the magic on your visit! Learn More About Carrie
