Coming in September and have the free dining plan. DS (7 yrs old) sometimes prefers more mature offerings than what's on the kids menus. Can we pay extra to order off of the adult menu?

    Hi Kelly,

    Yes and no.

You can't order something off of the adult menu for him and expect to pay a portion of the meal with your dining plan and pay the difference in cash.  However, you can tell the server that you'll be paying out of pocket for your child's meal and and still use the dining plan for your adult meals.

Another option might be to have your son choose an appetizer for the table.  You can pay out of pocket for this expense while using the dining credits for his main meal.

I recommend dining as much as possible at restaurants that serve either buffet or family style meals.  At these restaurants, your son will be free to enjoy both the kid and adult selections.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
