We are coming in on a saturday evening early october for a disney cruise leaving on sunday. just looking for something fun for saturday night or sunday morning without having to pay park admission. dinner? hot air balloon ride? reccommendations?

Hi Lisa! There is a wide variety of things you can do at Walt Disney World without heading into the parks.  Downtown Disney is definitely a great place to find fun and dining for an evening or a morning. Splitsville is a new bowling facility opening up this fall but might not be open for your visit. So as another option head down the street a bit and take in a dinner and a movie at the AMC theater. This is called Fork and Dine and it is wonderful and not expensive. You can add to that shopping and strolling as there is always some sort of entertainment out in all areas of this part of Disney.

Another option is the Boardwalk area by Epcot. There are dining options and many street entertainers out in the evening. It is similar to a carnival with games and face painting and mimes doing a show for the crowds. If you are adults only head into Jellyrolls where there are dueling pianos each night. During the day you can rent surrey bikes and take the loop around the lagoon area which is fun. I enjoy walking this circle at night as the lights are beautiful. If you have time you can always hop on the boat and take the circuit from Epcot to Hollywood Studios and back without going into the parks. Just being on the water is relaxing although since you will be cruising this might not be necessary!
