Hi there. Coming to Orlando in July, we are not staying on site but we do have park tickets for the duration. Whilst we are there, my wife will be celebrating her birthday. What are some special things I could plan for the evening of her birthday at WDW?

Greetings, Andrew, and welcome to planDisney! In just a few months you'll be walkin' right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A, and the only thing I can think of that's better than that is celebrating a birthday while you're in The Most Magical Place on Earth. Oh, boy, do I have some birthday ideas for you!

First and foremost, be sure to pick up a free Happy Birthday button for her at Guest Services or any merchandise location. Guests and Cast Members alike will wish her a happy birthday all day, which is sure to make her feel like the princess she is. For birthdays especially, I also recommend splurging on a nice meal. California Grill is a favorite of mine, and Cake Bake Shop is also popular for birthday celebrations. If you decide on California Grill, you can view Happily Ever After fireworks from their private deck. If your reservation is for earlier in the evening, you can bring your receipt back for fireworks viewing later that same day.

Since you mentioned the evening specifically, I have a few ideas around other exclusive ways to view fireworks. First, I'm a big fan of private fireworks cruises. They are available for both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, and both experiences include non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. If you let them know you're celebrating a birthday, they'll even decorate the boat with a birthday banner. Another option for Magic Kingdom is a fireworks dessert party with reserved viewing to watch Happily Ever After. You can choose between Fireworks Dessert Parties: Seats & Sweets, which gives you a seat during the fireworks. Or, you choose Fireworks Dessert Parties: Pre-Party or Post-Party, which allows you to choose whether you want dessert before the show or after. For these options, you get reserved viewing on a lawn, but not an actual seat. Similarly, both Rose & Crown and Spice Road Table have a Fireworks Dining Package to watch Luminous The Symphony of Us. With these options, you'll enjoy dinner followed by the fireworks show from your seat.

If she's a fan of animals, consider Starlight Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, offered at 8:30 and 10:00 PM as of now. You could enjoy the safari and then have a later dinner at Jiko - The Cooking Place. Or, do dinner first and choose the later safari start time.

Andrew, I hope these ideas give you inspiration for planning a spectacular birthday celebration. If you have any other planning questions, please visit us again here at planDisney.

    Let your dreams guide you!
