Hi Nitasha! From a fellow Ontarian, welcome to planDisney!
I'm always looking for little ways to save money when booking a trip to
Walt Disney World Resort and an easy way to do that is by using
Disney Gift Cards. Although Disney Gift Cards in U.S. dollars aren't obtainable in Canada, Canadian residents can buy physical Disney Gift Cards in Canadian dollars from various Canadian retailers. When these Canadian Disney Gift Cards are used for online transactions through the U.S. official Disney website, such as acquiring theme park tickets, or for any in-person purchases at Walt Disney World Resort, the funds will be converted into American dollars. The exchange rate from the night before will be applied, and any remaining balance on the card will be displayed in U.S. dollars on your receipt. Many Canadians opt for this method of purchasing Gift Cards as it avoids additional conversion fees typically incurred with credit cards and serves as a convenient means of budgeting for a trip!
I often pick up Disney Gift Cards when grocery shopping in Ontario at large chain retailers and they are also readily available at the big pharmacy chains. By doing so, I collect points on my credit card and still spend the Disney Gift Cards in the U.S. without paying conversion fees.
When purchasing multiple Disney Gift Cards, you can merge them on
www.disneygiftcard.com. This platform allows you to monitor your card balances and assign personalized nicknames for easier tracking. It's important to remember that you cannot combine cards of different currencies, meaning Canadian and American Gift Cards must be kept separate.
I hope you have a wonderful trip to Walt Disney World Resort, Nitasha. Please
let me know if you have any other vacation planning questions!
A fellow Canuck,
Candace
