Hi, Jan! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
I am so happy to hEAR that you will have the opportunity to experience a
"grand adventure" with your little Mouseketeer this fall! There are so many fun shows and
entertainment offerings at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you check out the entertainment webpage that I have linked here, you can filter the list by age and interests to see what your grandson might be interested in.
There are a few shows at the Walt Disney World
theme parks that involve a bit of audience participation, but, for the most part, guests are selected for these pixie-dusted experiences at random. However,
Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple at
Disney's Hollywood Studios works a bit differently. If you are traveling with a child between the ages of 4 and 12, and they would like to learn to use the Force to defeat the Dark Side, you may sign them up to participate in Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. Sign-ups to participate usually begin each day when Disney's Hollywood Studios opens to guests. Although there are several shows throughout the day, spaces for participants are limited, so I recommend arriving with your grandson as early as possible to sign him up.
Please keep in mind that you will be visiting shortly after the opening of
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios. In order to accommodate the large number of guests wishing to travel to a galaxy far, far away, guests staying at a
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel this fall will have access to
extra, Extra Magic Hours. From September 1 to November 2, 2019, Disney's Hollywood Studios will host extra, Extra Magic Hours daily from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. It has not yet been announced how extra, Extra Magic Hours will affect sign-ups for Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, but keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for all the latest announcements.
Now more than ever, it's a wonderful time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort! Wishing you and your grandson a vacation full of magical memories!
Samantha
