We are coming in Oct 2012 and my daughter will be 6 1/2. She is ADHD and ODD and im worried that all the walking will tire her out and cause some mood swings. Does the stroller rental at Disney have a weight limit? Shes about 46lbs now.

    Hi Cynthia!

Stroller use with the early elementary age group is an EXCELLENT idea to save little legs from all the extra miles typically put on those sneakers during a Walt Disney World vacation. And with a favorite stuffed animal and a soft blanket, the stroller can become a nice safe haven from the noise and stimulation of  theme park touring.

While I was not able to locate an official weight limit on the single and double-strollers offered at Disney, I've read that a typical weight capacity is about 100 lbs in order to safely navigate on and off curbs and around other park guests. You'll want to factor in the weight of any gear you've brought along for the day to the total poundage.

Be sure to check out this great unofficial resource for Disney special needs travel planning: www.mouse-aid.com. There are lots of parent-tested travel suggestions for children with attention challenges.

Also, you may want to schedule a midday break for your little girl to relax back at the hotel pool and try to keep her waking/ bedtime hours as close as possible to what she normally experiences . I've found that my daughter (with ADHD) responds more positively to the excitement of our Disney vacation when I keep her home routine in place.

Thanks so much for visiting us here at the Walt Disney World Moms Panel and feel free to send more questions my way in the days leading up to your trip!
