We are coming next year, but have a tight budget. Can you give us some ideas that are on the "cheap" side. I know we cannot afford a Character Dining

There are many opportunities for you to meet and greet characters during your stay at Walt Disney World.  Character dining is just one of the options.

Check with Guest Services at each park to get their daily line up for character greeting.  This is at no charge and they will be able to direct you to locations in each park and will let you know what characters will be there that day.  One of my favorites is in EPCOT to the right of the Future World fountain.  You can meet and get your picture taken with many of the major characters all in one location....MIckey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Goofy, Chip and Dale are some who might be there.  I suggest you arrive when the park opens to avoid a long line.

Animal Kingdom park has some "hidden" locations for character greeting as well.  A fun thing to do in this park is to take the walks to see many of the animals and the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch where the kids can see and touch many animals in the Affection Section.  All of the parks have these kind of opportunities that are not an extra cost to your park ticket.
