Coming in July 12-18-----we usually visit in the fall--anything we need to know! TY

    Hi Marcia,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I have visited Walt Disney World both in the fall and in the summer. Let me offer you some tips for your July vacation!

I think that the biggest difference you are going to experience from a fall vacation to a summer vacation at Walt Disney World is the weather. In July, it can get very hot at Walt Disney World! Be sure to pack appropriate clothes for the weather, which for my family means lots of shorts, t-shirts and tank tops. We also like to wear hats to keep our heads cool. Staying hydrated while you are in the theme parks is really important. I bring bottled water with me in my backpack. You can also ask for a cup of ice water at any quick-service dining location.

You also might find that in the summer you have slightly higher crowds than in the fall, depending on when you vacationed in the fall. In summer, many children are out of school and thus families head on vacation. In order to beat both the heat and the crowds, my family likes to head to the theme parks early, even a little before the posted opening time. Many other guests will sleep in, which means that these early times are often the least crowded times of day, and they are also the coolest! We like to head to a theme park early, spend the morning experiencing attractions, have a late lunch, and then head back to our resort to take a swim in the pool or a nap during the hottest part of the day. Then we are rested if we want to head back to a theme park in the evening when it is again cooler.

Finally, definitely take advantage of Disney's FastPass+ system. Using this system, you can experience some attractions each day with shortened wait times. This helps both to beat the heat and the crowds!

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Marcia. Please do let us know if you have any further questions!
