Hello Christine!
When I map out the Disney Parks Schedule for my family, this is what I do:
1. I go to the Walt Disney World website (
www.disneyworld.com) and click on the tab named
PARKS. Let's say you are looking for information on Magic Kingdom, so go ahead and click Magic Kingdom.
2. On the left hand side of Magic Kingdom's webpage, you will see a link called
Calendars. There you will find a monthly calendar to see what time the park opens, closes, and if there are any Extra Magic Hours offered for that particular day.
3. I then make an Excel Spreadsheet and list each Disney Park with all of this information.
Now, at this point, there are two things that will determine what Disney Park to go and visit each day.
If you are staying at a Disney Resort, one of the many perks you receive is Extra Magic Hours! This is where Disney guests are allowed to enter early or stay late when a Disney Park is offering Extra Magic Hours for that particular day! If you are staying at a Disney Resort, then choose to visit a park that will be open early or closes later for that day.
If you have the "Park Hopper Option" on your tickets, then you have great flexibility to pick and choose what park your family will visit each day! You can choose a Disney park to visit in the morning and then visit a Disney Park that is open late for Extra Magic Hours! NOTE: If you are traveling with small children, I would recommend staying at one Disney Park each day. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to "Park Hop" with small kids.
I hope this helps you in your planning. If you have other questions, please let me know!
Have a MAGICAL vacation!
