We will be coming in the heat of the summer, as a family of 4 now: wife, DH, 4 yo Princess, and 8 mo little Prince. We are staying at the Pop Century and have the Dining Plan, but what are the best ways to handle the heat and crowds with little ones?

Hi Shekinah - the summer can definitely be hot and uncomfortable in Florida.  I'd recommend that you bring some water bottles with you in the parks - if you have a refrigerator, consider freezing them, or you can soak them in an ice filled sink overnight so they are really cold.

There are some spray fountains in the parks that your kids may enjoy jumping in to get cool, so you may want to bring bathing suits and/or towels.

Plan your advance dining reservations so that you are able to take some well timed breaks.  Even when you eat quick service meals, try to sit indoors in air conditioning.

I also recommend that you take a mid-afternoon break at your hotel so that you can avoid some of the largest crowds and strongest heat.  We usually visit the hotel pool during this time, and then head back to the parks around 4 pm.

I hope that helps!  Have a great vacation!
