Hi Jeff,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am delighted that you brought this question to us! How exciting to be in the midst of planning your daughter's first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort.
Food is such a delicious experience at the Walt Disney World Resort! We find the
Dining Plans to be a great value. My family has used the Disney Dining Plan and the Deluxe Dining Plan. When our girls were younger, the Disney Dining Plan worked well. We typically brought snacks (cereal bars, instant oatmeal, etc.) for breakfast in the resort hotel room. One of us would take the resort refillable mugs to the food court to grab juice for everyone. Then we used our quick-service meals for lunch and our table-service meals for dinner. Now that our girls are older, we use the Deluxe Dining Plan with three meals per night of stay.
Given your daughter's age, I am not sure how she may react to the characters but I would certainly suggest that you try at least one character meal. Chef Mickey's (Mickey and friends), The Crystal Palace (Winnie the Pooh and friends), and Hollywood & Vine (Disney Junior characters) are fun for little ones. Cinderella's Royal Table and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall welcome princesses for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Trattoria al Forno hosts characters from Tangled and the Little Mermaid for breakfast. Though character experiences can change, we have never been disappointed at a character meal. Also, try Coral Reef Restaurant in Epcot. The view through the aquarium is superb.
I do hope you consider
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. The lights, treats and festivities are positively magical!
Happy Planning!
