We are coming out in early December and looking to stay at Port Orleans for 2 nights and Wilderness lodge for 2 nights as well. Looking at the map I am concerned Port Orleans is so far from the parks, considering we will probably not go to DTD. Thoughts?

    Hi Craig,

Early December is a wonderful time to visit. You will get to experience the spirit of the holidays in the parks and resorts without many of the crowds that will begin to appear as it get closer to Christmas and New Years Day.

Believe it or not, both of those are my two all-time favorite resorts in all of Walt Disney World! I simply love the grandeur and majestic feeling of the lobby and the rustic lodge-like feel of the rooms at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. This resort also has some of my favorite dining including Whispering Canyon Cafe and Artist Point. Over at Disney's Port Orleans Resort has a quiet southern charm with beautifully appointed rooms. It may seem like it is more removed from the parks, but it really isn't in the grand scheme of things. For example, the bus ride from Disney's Port Orleans Resort - either Riverside or French Quarter to Magic Kingdom is about 15-18 minutes while the boat from Disney's Wilderness Lodge to Magic Kingdom is about 13-15 minutes, while the bus is about 8-10 minutes. Disney's Wilderness Lodge is closer to Epcot by about 5-7 minutes travel time. On the flip side, Disney's Port Orleans Resort is actually closer to Disney's Hollywood Studios than Disney's Wilderness Lodge is. They are both pretty equal in regards to the travel time to Disney's Animal Kingdom. Keep in mind that transportation can vary slightly depending on time of day, traffic and season. However, the transportation system is convenient and very easy to use.

I hope you have a wonderful time making magical memories!
