    Will be coming early Dec. military member. Can we request to receive the flag after the 5pm ceremony? If so where do we request and when? This would be such an honor. Thanks 

    Hi Joan! The Magic Kingdom Flag Retreat ceremony is quite moving. It occurs daily and they often have a guest veteran assisting with the ceremony.

    My father was a World War II veteran and on the last trip to Disney for him he was able to be the honored veteran. Watching this ceremony still brings tears to my eyes. If you are interested in being the veteran for the day you will need to stop at the Guest Relations building as soon as the park opens. It is done on a first come basis so I can't guarantee you would be able to do it. You might also ask your resort concierge if they can assist you in getting this honored spot as sometimes they are able to do special things for the guests.

    Unless things have changed please be aware that the honored veteran is given the flag to walk out but the flag is not given to them to take home. No matter what, to participate in this ceremony is truly an honor for our wonderful veterans who have served our country for all of us. I hope you will be able to get this spot during your vacation in December.
