I am coming to DWMK for 1 day w/ my husband, 6 & 4 yr old. I've heard that some wait times can be upwards of 1 hr. Is a parent allowed to get in line and hold a spot while the other entertains the kids out of line? We want to maximize!

    Hi Susannah!

Thank you for bringing your question to us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I’m so excited to hEAR that your visit to Magic Kingdom Park is coming up, you must be so excited!

As a mom of two myself, I understand your worry of keeping the kids entertained while waiting in line. It’s best to keep your family together, especially since many of the line queues are immersive and themed! It’s so fun to enjoy the attractions together as a family from start to finish. What I like to do is, bring a small backpack in line with us filled with snacks they enjoy and a few handheld activities. I usually bring small sticker books, or pocket sized notebooks so the kids can draw while we are waiting. I also recommend downloading the Play Disney Parks mobile app! It’s a fun app that allows you to experience activities that bring the surrounding environments you are in, to life! It’s a great way to pass the time while waiting in line and keeps the family connected! (Tip: Bring a portable battery charger for your phone).

Did you know you are also able to skip the Standby line for select attractions, shows, and Character Greetings? Well you can, take advantage of FastPass+! With FastPass+, you are able to make up to 3 FastPass+ selections before you even arrive! Then when those selections have been experienced, you can select and make more FastPass+ reservations using the My Disney Experience Mobile App! If you are staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, you can do this 60 days prior to your arrival. If not, you are still able to take advantage of this priceless perk 30 days before you arrive with the purchase of a Park Admission

I also recommend arriving when the park first opens to maximize your day! My family and I find that we are able to experience many attractions earlier in the day. With the use of FastPass+ and arriving early, I’m sure your family will be able to enjoy so many Magical Experiences!

    See ya real soon!
