I am coming to DW nov27th 09. I am booked at pop, will I regret not booking moderate resort? My daughter in law says I'm terrible at second guessing myself. Thanks

    Teresa:

I tend to question myself, too!  I guess that's why I end up researching something to death so I don't have buyer's remorse!

I don't necessarily choose a Value over a Moderate just for the cost savings.  In September, my husband and I are staying at Pop Century for several reasons:

    • First of all, it's just the two of us, so the smaller Value rooms are spacious enough.  (If you have 4 adults, it might be a reason to consider upgrading.)
    • Secondly, we are flying and will need to depend on Disney transportation exclusively.  In my opinion, the buses are more plentiful at the Value Resorts simply because the resorts are larger and serve more guests.  This is an advantage if you want to leave the park during the day.  Since you're within driving distance, this may not be a consideration, but keep in mind that the only Moderate resort that has Disney transportation other than buses is Port Orleans which has a boat to Downtown Disney.  If we had our children--who love Legoland and the boat--we might have chosen to upgrade.
    • We're going to be spending most of our time at the parks and won't be going to the pool, so we won't miss the pool slides at the Moderates.  November weather for your visit will be hit or miss for pool time, and even though Disney keeps the pool water comfortable, I don't think a fellow Southerner will find the weather pleasant enough to swim.
The only thing that we will miss---well, my husband---is the in-room coffee makers that Disney sports in all of the Moderate and Deluxe resorts.  But paying for the upgrade just for morning coffee wasn't worth the difference!  And that's what made Pop Century a good value this time for us!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
