We are coming down March 21-27 and have two questions...if we reserve the trip with our credit card...can we exchange that reservation for Disney gift cards on arrival? Also, how much construction impact is at the Port Orleans right now?

    Hey there, Aaron!

Welcome to planDisney! I am so glad you stopped by with your questions about your upcoming stay at The Most Magical Place on Earth. It looks as if you plan on arriving soon, so let's tackle these questions and get you back to planning the best trip ever!

There are two scenarios to keep in mind when booking with one payment method and finalizing the purchase with another. It all comes down to what type of reservation you booked. If your accommodations are booked as part of a Disney vacation package (room and tickets), full payment will be due ahead of your arrival. You will still be able to book with your credit card and apply payments with the gift cards online, or by calling the Tickets and Hotel Reservations line. If you are paying with more than one gift card in a single transaction, you will need to call.

Should your hotel accommodations be booked as a room only (no tickets or dining plan), the final balance is due on arrival. Traditionally, the card on file will be charged automatically. But Hakuna Matata! You can still pay the amount due with your Disney Gift Cards. Just stop by the front desk when you arrive to pay the balance with your gift cards. It is important to note that charges made to your hotel room, including the cost of stay, are charged to the card on file at the end of each day. So be sure to stop by first thing!

Okay, moving on to Port Orleans! Currently, there are no construction plans for Disney's Port Orleans-French Quarter. If you plan on staying just down the river over at Port Orleans Riverside, construction is underway on Guest Rooms throughout the resort. While you may hear some noise during designated hours and see scaffolding here and there, main amenities and dining are currently available without interruption. There are quiet hours during the evening/early morning, so updates should not impact sleeping after a long park day! I do want to mention that construction plans can change, so it never hurts to check the resort website just before arrival, or stop back by here anytime with planning questions!

I hope your upcoming adventure is magical!
