Hi, we will be coming down for the marathon in January. We got the dining plan. Our son is will be 15 months old. He doesn't have a dining plan which we understand. Our question is- if we do a character meal do we have to pay for him or is he free?

    Hi Philip,

Congratulations on your upcoming trip with your son!  I was lucky enough to visit during Marathon Weekend this past year with my husband and it was simply spectacular.  You will find the weather is beautiful, the crowds are low, and your feet really do fly that last mile!

There is more good news!  Children under 3 may share from an adult's plate at restaurants that serve from a menu, and they may have their own plate at restaurants that serve from a buffet.  Additionally you will find that your son will even be served his own drink at no charge to you at the buffets.  Since many of the character meals are buffet style, this makes them extra magical for parents of toddlers!  I have found that even though my toddlers were big eaters, we always had more than enough food and didn't feel compelled to order something for our little ones.  However when it was snack time, I usually did have to get my toddlers their own Dole Whip or I wouldn't have had any left for me.

I hope your weekend is filled with magic and memories!  If you have any more vacation planning questions please come back and visit us again here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  And if you have any race weekend questions, be sure to stop by the runDisney Moms Panel section and ask a question or just browse through asked and answered questions.  Our "Moms" are all happy to help answer all of your questions and help you plan your most magical vacation yet!

    Blessings,
