I am coming down with 3 other girls to do the Wine & Dine Half-Marathon this fall! We are looking at staying at POFQ; this will be my 8th trip to WDW but my first time NOT staying in a deluxe resort! What sort of differences can I expect?

    Hi Allison!

Port Orleans French Quarter is a very nice moderate resort hotel.  Compared to some of the other Disney Deluxe Resorts, the biggest differences are:
    • Smaller Rooms on Average (314 square feet at French Quarter)
    • Limited Dining Options
    • Limited Room Service (basically Pizza)
    • You Enter the Rooms from an External Hallway
    • No Fitness Center
    • No Valet Parking
A nice thing about Port Orleans French Quarter is you can use all of the services and amenities at Port Orleans Riverside as well, including a Table Service restaurant there.  Port Orleans Riverside also has a very nice pool (the water slide there is significantly longer than the slide at French Quarter).  You can walk or take a boat between the two resorts.  You can also rent water craft at Port Orleans Riverside.

There is boat service from Port Orleans French Quarter to Downtown Disney.  I have found it to be a very relaxing and enjoyable ride.  I especially enjoy it at night.  I highly recommend it!

Enjoy planning and write back if you have any more questions!
