I will be coming down to Art of Animation for a few days starting on December 10th. My wife recently had a medical diagnosis which limits her ability walk long distances. What is the best way to request a room on first floor and the shortest distance

It’s a delight to see you here at planDisney, Steve!

Thanks for stopping by with your question!

I am elated to hEAR you and your bibbidi bobbidi boo are coming to The Most Magical Place on Earth! Nothing is sweeter than sharing a Dole Whip with the one you love!

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is such a bright and cheerful Resort hotel; it’s sure to draw you both in! One of my favorite things about Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is the transportation option to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios! There’s magic in the air as you ride the Disney Skyliner from your Resort hotel to the two Theme Parks! This Ariel Gondola is able to accommodate Guests traveling with wheelchairs and assistive devices and gets you to and from your Resort hotel within minutes! Speaking of assistive devices, if Guests require assistance, Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECV) are available for rent at all Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks.

Steve, the best way to request a room on the first floor and shortest distance to the lobby of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is to speak to a Cast Member at Disney Resort Hotel Reservations. While speaking to the Cast Member about your request for the first floor, let them know it is due to medical reasons. Although requests are not guaranteed, I know Cast Members do their very best to accommodate Guests.

Did you know that Services for Guests with Disabilities are available with wonderful options at Walt Disney World Resort? In case your wife is unable to stand in lines for very long, you might want to look into the Disability Access Service (DAS), which is a service that provides return times for attractions for Guests who are unable to tolerate long lines. My family has used the Disability Access Service before, and I cannot begin to explain how wonderful I think is. You may also find the Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities helpful.

If you haven’t already, be sure to make those Disney Park Pass reservations! And if you’re looking to have a romantic dinner, might I suggest dinner at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort? This restaurant is located on the 15th floor of the Resort hotel and has stunning panoramic views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom Park.

I hope the two of you have the most enchanting vacation together, Steve!
