We're coming to DL the week of Thanksgiving, which we know will be very busy. Can we go to parks in the mornings, leave for a rest, and get back in, in the evening? Or will the parks reach capacity, so we should stay for all our activities? Thanks!

Greetings, Charlene, and thanks for bringing great questions our way!

Visiting the Disneyland Resort during the holidays is one of my favorite things to do! The weather is cool and crisp, and there’s so much excitement in the air leading up to both Thanksgiving and Christmas. With that excitement, of course, often comes larger crowds, too. With your regular theme-park admission, you’ll have re-entry privileges to the park you were in earlier that day, unless you also have Park Hopper Tickets, which allow you in either park. I recommend purchasing Park Hopper tickets if you haven’t already, so you have the flexibility of moving between both parks depending on potential crowds. Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park are just a short walk across the Esplanade from each other, so they’re easy to “hop” back and forth to! Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly when the parks will reach capacity. However, here’s my advice: Whenever your family is ready to leave the park and take a break, stop by a Cast Member to ask what they think your chances are for re-entry later that day. They’ll usually have a pretty good idea.

If you choose to stay in the park instead, here are some of my family’s favorite ways to take breaks: Take a ride on the Disneyland Monorail or Railroad – this is always a great way to see the sights while resting tired feet. Second, stop by a Baby Care Center – there’s one in each park. These Centers are a great spot to change, feed, or simply rest. Lastly, you can’t go wrong with a sweet treat and a view at The Tropical Hideaway!

Wishing you a magical holiday at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Greetings from sunny California! I live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder (and now a Magic Key Passholder) for more than 20 years! As a mom of three kids ages 5-10, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth! Learn More About Kristin
