We are coming to Disneyworld for Christmas this year and would like to take the Wild Africa Trek. Has anyone taken this tour in the winter and if so are the animals out and active as they are during the spring and summer.

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Lorinda! I took the Wild Africa Trek head on in mid-January of this year with my Mom for her 60th birthday. A science teacher, she adored getting up close with animals like the Okapi, Hippos and walking right over the crocs!

It was very cool on the day we went, especially in the morning, with highs topping out in the low 50s. The crocs were submerged in the water to stay warm, while the other animals were very active and not burdened by the heat. We saw giraffes, cheetahs, lions, and more. The jeep portion of the tour was extra cold with the wind blowing as we drove, but the guides were prepared with snuggly clean blankets and warm tea at the outpost. It was fabulous, and no one was uncomfortable. Be sure to dress smartly and follow the guidelines set out by the Cast Member booking you, like wearing sneakers and bringing sunscreen. I can’t wait to hear what kinds of wild fun you will have on your tour. It’s going to be a roaring good time!

If I can help you with other winter fun activities at Walt Disney World Resort, please let me know. There are some amazing holiday events at the Parks you will love! Qua Harini! ~ Lindsey P.
