Hi, we are coming to Disneyland soon and we have a 5 month old. I read somewhere that baby’s need shoes on some rides, is this true? I wasn’t planning on bringing her any shoes since they seem to fall off and get lost.

Hi there, Whitney, and thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I’m so glad you’re hEAR, and I can’t wait for you to experience the Happiest Place on Earth with your sweet little Mouseketeer soon!

I’ve been bringing my three youngsters to the Disneyland Resort since they were infants, and they rarely wore any sort of baby shoe until they were old enough to walk. I know what you mean about losing shoes at your baby's age -- my little ones would typically tear off their shoes the second they got into their car seat! I double-checked with a Cast Member, and was told that you won’t need to worry about having shoes for your 5-month-old baby. Since babies this age spend a majority of their time lap-sitting or in a stroller, socks should be just fine for infants.

When my children were the same age, I enjoyed wearing them in a baby carrier during my park visits. This was a great way to enjoy the parks with baby safely snuggled up against me… and even better, I was hands-free! You can actually wear baby on most attractions without a height requirement, too. You may just be asked to move baby to a forward-facing position on any attractions with a lap bar.

Another option for parents traveling with an infant is to utilize Rider Switch, which is a great way for parents to take turns waiting with a baby too small to ride a certain attraction. I’ve used Rider Switch many times over the past eight years, and am so thankful for this helpful feature! My favorite attractions are Space Mountain and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, so it’s always a thrill when I visit the parks with another adult Guest so I can still enjoy these awesome attractions!

Last, but certainly not least, be sure to check out the Baby Care Centers – there’s one in each theme park. These Centers are the ideal spot to change, nurse, or feed your little one, and even purchase any baby necessities you may have forgotten to pack.

Please stop by with any additional questions, Whitney… I’m all EARs!

Wishing you and your family a pixie-dusted, stress-free visit to the Disneyland Resort!
