Hi! We will coming to Disneyland for a friends 40th birthday trip. We plan to do dinner in downtown Disney the first night we arrive. Is there a local bakery that you recommend that can do a sophisticated/adult birthday cake?

Hey there, Nicole. Welcome to planDisney. We’re so glad you found us to ask this question. I love a good girls’ trip to the parks and I am so excited to hear that you will also be celebrating a birthday!

Personally, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be than at the Happiest Place on Earth celebrating another trip around the sun. Dinner in Downtown Disney District sounds like a great way to kick things off. And what’s a birthday without a birthday cake? Off the top of my head, I do not have any recommendations of places that I've used or that I am familiar with to share, however after a quick internet search, I found several bakeries nearby that seemingly would be able to meet your needs. I recommend taking a quick peek and calling a few to make sure that they would be able to deliver (if needed) to the resort.

As another suggestion, you may want to try contacting the restaurant in Downtown Disney where you are planning to have dinner to see if they do anything special for birthdays. It may also be a good idea to check and make sure that bringing your own birthday cake to dinner will be alright. I also noticed that Kayla’s Cakes also has a fun cake-in-a-jar that may be a fun and different spin on things. I would call ahead to make sure they have them available at the kiosk.

Former panelist, Lisa, also has some great ideas for birthday celebration treats at the Disneyland Resort to consider. Make sure to pick up your complimentary “Happy Birthday!” button for your friend to wear during your visit. It will be so fun to have all the Cast Members wish your friend a happy birthday during your visit.

Although this might not be the answer you were looking for, I hope I was able to provide some suggestions and ideas for your celebration visit. Let us know if we can help with anything else. Here’s wishing you and your friends a very merry birthday visit!
