Coming to Disney 8/26 with a 7yr old Star Wars fan. Will build your own droid still be available at DS? Also, do the byo light sabers retract? (Are they suitcase friendly?)

    Hi Karen!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

The Droid Factory will be available for your Star Wars fan when you go to Walt Disney World in August.  It is located in Tatooine Traders at the exit to Star Tours - The Adventure Continues.  You can get more information on the Droid Factory from this official Disney Parks Blog post.

You can build a light saber at Tatooine Traders that will retract.  You can even build a double light saber that will retract on both sides.  If you are worried about taking it home in a small suitcase or bag, you can even take it apart if necessary.  Both of my boys, ages 13 and 9, enjoy building their own light saber.

By the way, be sure to experience the enhanced Star Tours attraction.  Disney did a fabulous job with its upgrade.  It is now one of my favorite attractions to do on every trip to Walt Disney World.

Enjoy planning your magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation, and please write back with more questions!
