Disney PhotoPass memories, and, if staying onsite, your MagicBand doubles as your room key. You can even tap your MagicBand for purchases throughout the parks - it's magical.
I'm happy to share that you shouldn't have any issues using your older MagicBands. This summer, my kids used MagicBands from 2019 without any problems. The only part that relies on the internal battery is the long-range feature - like attraction videos that may automatically appear in your Disney PhotoPass account. Even if the battery in your MagicBand has reached the end of its life, it will still be ready to handle the basics that make your day run smoothly.
If you have a MagicBand+, you can keep using it! Just be sure to charge and ensure it is connected to your MyDisney account in the My Disney Experience App.
