We are coming to Disney World for the first time and our youngest is allergic to ALL nuts and peas. Just wondering which restaurant would be better to make our dining experience less stressful. We are hoping for Be our guest or Ohana. Thank you!

    Hi Melissa,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question, my fellow Canadian!

My husband suffers from a severe allergy, so I completely understand the low-level panic that comes from dining in an unfamiliar location. I’m happy to say that the one location where we feel the safest dining out of our house is at a Disney dining location. First, almost restaurant has an “allergies” menu available upon request that you can scan in order to see whether something you’d like to eat has one of the major categories of allergens, including tree nuts and peanuts.

Second, based on my experience, if you tell the Cast Member who is checking you in for your table service dining reservation that a member of your party has an allergy, the chef usually comes out to have a brief talk with you about what you plan to order and what the ingredients are. They’ve also discussed how and where my husband’s meal would be prepared, in order to alleviate any concerns about cross contamination.

Finally, there’s a Special Dietary Requests team that will be more than happy to answer any specific questions about your dining choices, even before you start your Walt Disney World Resort vacation!

To answer your specific question, I’d go with the restaurant that you think most people in your family will enjoy. Either one should be able to accommodate your child’s allergies with ease. For example, if I remember correctly, there are some sauces at ‘Ohana that contain peanut and nut ingredients and there were snow peas in our mixed vegetable plate. That being said, I have some friends with nut allergies who have dined there in the past, and they raved about the food and the lengths that the chefs went to make sure that they had an enjoyable experience. But, then again, dining at Be Our Guest Restaurant is a feast both in terms of the food and the visual experience of dining in the Beast’s Castle… so you can’t go wrong with either choice!

I hope my answer helps put your mind at ease and helps you plan a delicious Disney Parks vacation for your entire family. Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
