Hi, I am coming to Disney World for the first time in March. We are not staying on property just getting a day pass. Can we still get into Magic Kingdom an hour earlier than everything else opens? Is that for rope drop?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Lauren! Thanks for stopping by with your question. March is a beautiful time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort.

I feel confident that with just a dash of planning, you will have a Magical day at Magic Kingdom Park! First, I would recommend checking the park hours for the time frame you are planning to visit. If you have any flexibility in your schedule, I would pick a day withOUT Extra Magic Hours in the morning. When a park has Extra Magic Hours in the morning, that time is reserved for guests with a hotel reservation at one of the Disney Resort Hotels.

If you are able to go on a morning withOUT those Extra Magic Hours, I recommend arriving at the park an hour before the posted park opening time. This will allow you time to park and get to the gate so that when the "rope drops", essentially opening the park to guests, your fun can begin!

Also, in the spirit of saving time, I recommend purchasing your ticket online prior to arriving at the parks. Not only does this save you time waiting, it allows you to book your complimentary 3 Fastpass+ selections for that day. These can be planned 30 days in advance of your arrival. To do this, simply create a My Disney Experience account and link your park ticket to that account. Then you're ready to make your selections!

My family and I always use the Fastpass+ reservation system as it allows us to skip the standby line at three attractions throughout the park and ride faster! One of our favorite attractions at Magic Kingdom Park is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad which offers a Fastpass+.

I hope this gives you a good start to begin thinking about your day at Magic Kingdom Park. Please come back to us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any other questions to help make your day unforgettable!

    Wishing you a pixie-dusted vacation,
