Hi Christina!
You're going to be in good hands with the chefs and culinary staff at Walt Disney World! They do a fantastic job of visiting with guests and helping them decide on meals that would be best suited for their particular dietary needs.
For a general overview of Walt Disney World's approach to
accommodating various food allergies or dietary requirements, click here for their newly updated online resource.
My niece has a nut allergy, and whenever we check into a restaurant at Walt Disney World, we are asked by the host or hostess if anyone in our party has a food allergy or other dietary restriction. When we mention my niece's nut allergy, they make a note on our seating card so the wait staff will know that we need help with the menu. As an extra precaution, you can indicate your food allergies when you make a reservation for any of the restaurants in Walt Disney World.
In cases where a menu offering appealed to my niece, but was made with nuts that would have aggravated her allergy, they offered to make a special preparation for her that did not include those particular ingredients.
If you plan to dine at a quick-service restaurant, you can still ask the cast members to assist you with your order. In fact, Disney is starting to utilize a self-serve allergy guide at the quick-service restaurants. For lunch at the Be Our Guest Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom, the ordering kiosks will automatically eliminate any menu offerings from the screen if you indicate that you have one of the pre-programmed food allergies. Neat stuff!
I hope that helps and I hope you have some awesome dining experiences on your upcoming vacation!
