Hello Catherine! Welcome to planDisney!
It's so exciting to hear that you're coming to
Walt Disney World Resort for your 50th anniversary during its
50th anniversary! It must have been a great year! And there's certainly no better reason to visit than to see your pride and joy walking right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. What an amazing opportunity for your grandson and his classmates.
The very best viewing spots for the
Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade may be based on which side of the band your grandson is marching on, as I'm sure you'll want to make eye contact, wave and take pictures. I would definitely ask him where he is in the lineup so you can try to be on that side of the street! If I were you, I would start making my way down Main Street, U.S.A about an hour prior to the parade start time. I suggest popping into
Main Street Bakery or
Main Street Confectionary for a cold drink or sweet snack to enjoy while people-watching and waiting to hear the sweet sound of your grandson's band! Standing by the flagpole at the end of Main Street, near the Park entrance, is always a great view.
If you and your family are thinking about purchasing the new
Disney Genie+ Service you can even get priority saved seating as a Lightning Lane selection. Lightning Lanes are a way to "skip" the line at more than 40 rides and attractions throughout the Parks, but they also work to hold a perfect viewing area of parades! This means that you can meet up with a Disney Cast Member in front of
Cinderella Castle and be led to prime seating right behind the Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse "Partners" statue. If you want to make sure you're getting a great view, this is the way to go!
While you're visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, make sure to carve out some time to celebrate your anniversary! Booking an
Advance Dining Reservation at a special restaurant like
Citricos or
Steakhouse 71 will be the perfect way to end your practically perfect day!
Enjoy!
