We're coming to Disney late September and I can't wait! My children are 4 and 9; do you think the Haunted Carriage Ride at Fort Wilderness will be fun and not too scary for them? I can't find much information on it and am hoping you can help. Thank you!

Hi Rebecca!  I have been on the Haunted Carriage rides at Fort Wilderness and have reservations again for this year. It is such a tough call to know if children will be affected by anything.  A good deal of the trip is done in the dark woods surrounding the Fort Wilderness area.  There is some discreet lighting but not much. If your children are afraid of the dark then this isn't a good choice.  The story of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow plays while you are on the ride and there are surprises along the way that could easily frighten young and old. I have a four year old grandson and I doubt I will take him along this year as he is more on the cautious side. But each child is different with what they enjoy and what might scare them.

Your driver might help ease some nerves with the children if he/she would talk and be communicating through-out the trip but most of the time the tape plays and they do not interact.  After all it is called the Haunted Carriage ride and they play their role well!

I realize this might not help but it truly is a judgment call for each family!
