We are coming to Disney Land from Australia. My friend has never been and she will be celebrating her 60th birthday. What do you recommend as a must see/do. Yes being in Disneyland will be incredible and amazing but I would like to make it extra special

G'day, David, and welcome to planDisney! Your magical trip is just around the corner, and I can’t think of a better place to celebrate a special birthday than The Happiest Place on Earth. You are a good friend for reaching out about ways to make the trip extra special. I'm here to help!

Your timing couldn’t be better, because the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration is in full swing! The atmosphere throughout the parks is buzzing with excitement. From vibrant decorations and colorful character outfits to exclusive merchandise and festive food, there's something special around every corner. What really stands out to me is the entertainment – Paint the Night, Wondrous Journeys, and World of Color Happiness! are amazing. To enhance your experience, consider getting a dining package for one (or more) of the shows. You'll enjoy a meal and receive a voucher for reserved viewing of the corresponding show. Speaking of dining packages, there are quite a few options for Fantasmic!, which remains one of my favorite nighttime spectaculars ever.

I have a few ideas that might help make the visit feel even more magical for your friend's birthday:

    • When you arrive at the park, stop by City Hall or a nearby retail location to pick up a complimentary birthday button. Guests wearing birthday buttons often receive cheerful greetings from Cast Members, Characters, and other Guests throughout the day. You can get an "I'm Celebrating" button for yourself and others in your group.
    • There are plenty of creative food and drink options at the park right now for the 70th Anniversary Celebration. The Disney Parks Blog has a helpful Foodie Guide highlighting some of the offerings – check it out and make a list of the items you want to try. The 70th Celebration Macaron has been a hit with my family and friends.
    • Consider stopping by the Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices near Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. They’ll often sprinkle a little pixie dust in your hair when asked. It can be a delightful moment for your friend. Another fun way to spend a few minutes would be to make a birthday wish at Snow White Grotto, which is also near Sleeping Beauty Castle.
    • One thing I especially love about the Disneyland Resort is all the Characters you'll find throughout the park. You can bring something for each of them to sign. Then, give it to your friend at the end of the visit.
David, another way to make the most of your trip is to purchase the Lightning Lane Multi Pass. It grants access to the Lightning Lane entrance at several attractions, leading to shorter queues. You'll be able to fit more magic into your day thanks to the shorter wait times. With this pass, you'd select return times for participating attractions using the Disneyland mobile app. There are other benefits to this pass, too, like unlimited digital downloads of PhotoPass photos.

The theme of the 70th Anniversary is "Celebrate Happy" – I hope all of your wishes for a happy celebration at Disneyland come true, David. If you have any other questions as your trip approaches, please reach out. We're always glad to help here at planDisney!
