We are coming to Disney July 3 and staying through the 9th staying at Animal kingdom lodge. This will be our first trip. We are looking for suggestions on how to plan for the parks. We have 6 day tickets without hopper option. Thanks!

    Hi John!

With regards to planning a first time visit, several Walt Disney World Mom Panelists answered a question about planning a first trip and you can read their advice here.

I also suggest ordering the free Walt Disney World planning DVD.  I also recommend that first time visitors pick up a good tour book on  Walt Disney World.  My favorite for first time visitors is  "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It is a great book that has won many awards.  It's also a very beautiful tour book full of color photographs.

The July 4th weekend is historically a very busy time at Walt Disney World.  I suggest having a good touring plan which is designed to maximize the number of attractions you can experience while minimizing your waiting in lines.  In my opinion, the best touring plans are created by the team that writes "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World".  That team also has a website at TouringPlans.com.  Their recommendations are based on a lot of math and years of data collection.  As an engineer, I'm a big fan of their work.  I suggest looking at what's available on their website.

Enjoy planning and write back if you have any more questions!
