I am coming to Disney in Jan 2020 and I am SO excited to experience Galactic Edge. What do I need to know to prepare? Do I need to reserve times for events? Is there more than quick service dining there that I should try and reserve?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Hannah!

I'm so glad that I get to answer your question today because I can feel your excitement about your upcoming visit to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios. I'm going to be visiting right around the time it opens next week, and I can't wait to see everything with my own eyes! As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I can't wait to step into that world for myself and enjoy some time in a galaxy far, far away, and I'm happy to walk you through everything you need to know to make your first visit to Batuu a smooth one.

By the time you arrive in January, there will be two attractions up and running at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. When they open, they will not be operating within the FastPass+ system, so you don't need to worry about making any reservations for those attractions and you only need to jump in the line when you're ready to ride. The two Quick-Service dining locations, Ronto Roasters, and Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, do not require reservations either and are a great choice to fulfill your cravings for a Ronto Wrap or Fried Endorian Tip-Yip!

There are a few places in Black Spire Outpost that do take reservations, so if you want to grab drinks at Oga's Cantina, build a companion droid at Droid Depot, or forge some scrap metal into your very own lightsaber at Savi's Workshop, it's highly recommended that you book a time slot for those. Just like dining reservations, the booking window for those experiences opens 180 days in advance so you can check them out now to see if there's a time that works for you! Also, be sure to download the Play Disney Parks app so you can access the Star Wars: Datapad to enhance your experience at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and interact with the land in some fun new ways.

May the Force be with you, Hannah!
