WE will be coming on Dec 26 - Jan 2 of this year with my grandchildren and was wondering how to dress them we are from North Carolina and want to make sure we have what they need as far as clothing. And are the pools still open? Are they heated?

Hello Kim! Thanks so much for your question. The holiday season is my all time favorite time to visit Walt Disney World. I just love being able to walk down the festively decorated Main Street U.S.A with Cinderella Castle brightly sparkling in the distance. One of my family "must-dos" is to stop by the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe and pick up a new Christmas ornament for our tree. It's one of our family traditions. Another must do is to take a ride on the 'Jingle Cruise' - the holiday version of the classic attraction Jungle Cruise. It gets a holiday makeover with fun and festive jokes and seasonal decor.

As far as pools are concerned, in my experience, they've been open as long as the weather permits them to stay open. Last December I remember seeing families enjoying the heated pools during the warmer parts of the day, but not so much late at night or early morning. In December, Florida temperatures are usually pretty mild with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s. Last year I dressed in layers because it was generally pretty cold in the mornings and evenings. Its just easier to dress in layers and take them off as it gets warmer in the afternoon and then add them again as the temperatures drop at night. I also suggest bringing ponchos if you plan to ride the water attractions. Theres nothing worse than walking around cold and wet. Splash Mountain is one of my favorite attractions, so I brought a poncho so that I could still enjoy it even during winter.

I hope this helps, and if you need anything else, please don't hesitate to ask. Have a magical holiday Walt Disney World vacation!
