We are coming to California on June 7th and wanted to take our boys on a day trip to Disneyland! Our boys are 9 and 4 1/2.Which park would be best to go to that will have things for both of them to do? Was thinking about multipark pass but not enough time

Hey there, Amy! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney with your planning question! I'm so excited to hear that you are thinking about making a stop at Disneyland Resort during your upcoming trip to California.

I think any visit to Disneyland Resort is a good idea, even if it's brief and only for a day. I honestly believe with children that age, you will have a fantastic day at either park if a Park Hopper ticket is not an option. If we were chatting over coffee and Mickey waffles, I would ask you a few questions to help you make the best decision for your family.

    1. Is this your family's first Disney trip or have you visited Walt Disney World? If you have previously been to Walt Disney World, I might suggest Disney California Adventure Park. While I love exploring the similarities and differences of attractions that Walt Disney World and Disneyland have in common, children usually prefer something new. The majority of attractions and "lands" at Disney California Adventure Park are unique to Disneyland Resort.

    2. Are your boys thrill-seekers or more timid when it comes to attractions? While both parks have plenty to do for everyone, Disneyland Park does have quite a few more attractions overall, including many with little to no height requirement.

    3. What are the interests of your boys? If your boys love Pixar or Marvel characters, Disney California Adventure Park is going to wow them. This park features Avengers Campus where they may see some of their favorite superheroes walking past them, great entertainment, and more. This park also features Cars Land, which is one of my favorite things at Disneyland Resort. If you have some young Jedis in your family, you won't want to miss Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Resort. There is nothing like Batuu!

Amy, I know that whatever park you end up choosing for your day visit your family will be able to experience the magic. Pick your park and be sure to get those tickets and theme park ticket reservations secured before the date books up! See you real soon!
